Nations with solidarity and integrity take along them the deprived segments of society in their hours of joy to give them the feel that somebody is there to take care of them. After holy month of Ramazan, Eidul Fitr has special significance in the lives of Muslims as a Thanksgiving Day, successfully completing one of the sacred duties bestowed upon them by Almighty Allah.
The Holy Prophet (SAWW) has specifically emphasised looking after the orphans, widows and old age people so that they feel they are not alone on this auspicious occasion. Marking Eid of such people worthwhile, Parents and Youth Advocacy Awareness Movement (PAYAAM), an independent non-governmental, non-political social welfare foundation, organised "EID FOR ALL" at Edhi Home here on Sunday, said a press release.
The objective of organising the event was to inculcate awareness among the masses especially in youth that while celebrating religious festivals those who have-nots like widows, orphans and old age people leading life of ignorance by their near and dear ones at orphanage or old age houses be not forgotten.
And while going on Eid shopping the brothers and sisters who do not have access to new clothing, shoes may also be kept in mind. If we are not in a position to buy Eid gifts for them we must contribute something to the organisations engaged in helping the poor people in hour of need.
The event was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. A large of number of volunteers from various educational institutions of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad participated in it.
PAYAAM distributed Eidi, clothes, toys and food among the orphans, widows and old age people so that they could also participate in the festivity. To add more colour to the occasion a small mesmerising magic show was arranged for kids. All children paid heed to the magic show and glee could easily be seen in the whole environment. Basit Subhani, President PAYAAM who is also a showbiz personality gave an awesome musical performance and rocked the event.
A number of stalls of mendhi and Choorian were set up for ladies. The event was the second phase of PAYAAMs Spreading special Colours of Eid for Special Children project. The First phase of the project was initiated on September 17 2009 when PAYAAM distributed wheelchairs, Edhi, food and cloths among the disable children. Besides, this PC was gifted to a blind boy.
While talking to media, Basit Subhnai said that it is a great honour for PAYAAM to organise such events within its own limited resources. Among others the main aim of the organisation to spread happiness and give a ray of hope to the underprivileged, disabled and people who are living an ignorant life at old age/orphanage houses.
